Aug Stamp of the Month Blog Hop "Wicked" Distressed Color Blocking

Pin It I LOVE the new Autumn/Winter Close to My Heart Idea Book and I can't wait to show it to you!  I'm currently scheduling gatherings and workshops for September and I have a couple dates left in August, so let me know what works for you!  From our new Cricut Cartridge that automatically cuts out some of our stamped images to new amazing BLING, you are going to love it too!

To hold you over until then, here is the August Blog Hop!  Here is how the Blog Hop works:  About 60 fellow Close to My Heart consultants all make a piece of art (scrapbook page, card, specialty item, etc) using the Stamp of the Month.  They all include links to eachother's blogs so that anyone can begin on any blog and hop from blog to blog which eventually becomes a big circle. Easy right?!  It is a great way to view many different ideas using one stamp set which is FOR SALE only for that particular month, so don't miss out!  Now let's get started.  You can start here or if you've come here from LeAnne Dudley's blog then you are on the right track.  Here is the fun set:

Here is my card using the Distressed Color Blocking Technique.  The recipe and directions are below.
Recipe
August Stamp of the Month: Wicked
Creme Brulee Cardstock
Black Cardstock
White Cardstock
Creme Brulee Ink Pad
Sunset Ink Pad
Black Ink pad
Black Waxy Flax
3D Foam Tape
Piercing Tool

You can order these on your consultant's website or if you don't have a consultant, you can order HERE.

Directions
  • Take a piece of white cardstock and a medium color ink pad (Sunset) and scrape the edge of the ink pad down the center of the white paper leaving some white space creating a distressed block of ink on the paper. Let dry a few seconds.
  • Now take a slightly lighter ink pad (Creme Brulee) and drag it over the previous block of color you created on the cardstock. Let dry a second.
  • Use a solid silhouette image (like the SOTM!), stamp it in black over your distressed color block.
  • To finish this card I used the honeycomb stamp from the set with Creme Brulee ink on a Creme Brulee card to create the background.
  • The edges of the card were scraped with a Black Ink Pad
  • I wrapped Black Waxy Flax around the first two layers of cardstock and tied it in a bow near her waist.  The ends of the waxy flax were curled by wrapping them around the Piercing Tool.
  • The first two layers were elevated using 3D Foam Tape
Feel free to leave me a comment or let me know if you have any questions.  Then it's time to hop over to see what Lori Brown has in store for you!  For a full list of participants, you can go to Kathleen's blog here. Pin It
