July Stamp of the Month: Happy Forever Blog Hop

Welcome to the July Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! If you came here from Mary Eisen's blog then you are on the right track. If you are new to the blog hop then just start here and hop from blog to blog following the links to wonderful SOTM artwork done by fellow Close to My Heart consultants. If you get lost along the way, you can see the full list here.  Here is my card this month and I hope you enjoy it.

Recipe:
C1407 Hot Diggity Stamp Set (saying used)
Z1142 Brown Stazon Pad
Z2111 Chocolate Ink Pad (saying)
Z1212 Spring Harmony Brad Assort
3505 Watercolor Pencils
3174 Blending Pen
Z1151 3-D Foam Tape

Instructions:
I layered the papers together and then stamped the hedgehog in Brown Stazon Pad over the top.  I also stamped the kite again on scratch paper, cut it out, and foam taped it over the original kite which was stamped off the paper.  The images are colored with watercolor pencils and blended with the Blending pen.  The "Fun in the Sun" saying is from the SUPER FUN Hot Diggity stamp set with Chocolate ink.  I also used one of the brown pencils to create the stitch marks around the edges of the cardstock.  I hope you like it!

Feel free to leave a comment and then hop on over to Susan Brooks' blog for another adorable idea!  If you would like to purchase this stamp set then you can order it on my website or from your consultant.  Thanks!

Snoqualmie Falls

We took a day trip to Snoqualmie Falls this weekend and it was so much fun.  It was wonderful to see such a beautiful place in our great state.  It was difficult to avoid the huge cranes at the top of the waterfall in the shot, but hopefully they aren't too noticable.  They are working on a hydroelectric power system that should be finished in 2013 and then we can hike down to the bottom of the trail for an even more breathtaking view.  Of course after I got home I read a tip from Scott Kelby in "The Digital Photography Book" about how to take great photos of waterfalls.  (I highly recommend his books BTW.)  I think I did a pretty good job without a tripod though.  :o) Pin It

Layered Linen Technique

I love using this technique with the Lifetime stamps that come with the Passages Basic Kit.  Start with the lightest color (Bamboo) ink pad and scrape the edge of it across a piece of Colonial White Cardstock going one direction two or three times.  Turn the paper 90 degrees and scrape it again.  Repeat steps with Desert Sand, Brown Bag, and Cocoa pads.  Stamp some of the smaller stamps from the stamp set in Bamboo and Desert Sand and a few larger stamps in Brown Bag and Cocoa.  I used the stitches border in the Lifetime set around the edges of Layered Linen piece.  The saying is from the Live Inspired set which is stamped onto a piece of Bamboo cardstock with Cocoa ink.  The edges are scraped with Cocoa ink as well.  Let me know if you have any questions!

Simple Card Using the June Stamp of the Month: Wonderful Friend

I always love to make a super simple card as one of the cards at my workshops and this was the one we made today.  We used a piece of Passages Background paper on the front of a Colonial White card, then punch a hole using CTMH's 1 1 /4" Circle Punch.  I marked the center of the circle with a pencil and stamped the "My Hero, My Friend" stamp on the inside of the card.  I sponged some Cocoa ink around the edges and circle to make it pop.  Stay tuned for more cards from today's workshop!
