November Stamp of the Month: A Little Thanks Blog Hop

Pin It Welcome to the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! If you came here from Carol Harris's Blog then you are on the right track. If you are new to the blog hop then just start here and hop from blog to blog following the links to wonderful SOTM artwork done by fellow Close to My Heart consultants. If you get lost along the way, you can view the entire list of participants here.

I probably use Thank You stamps the most out of my collection, so of course I LOVE THIS SET!  It has Thank You stamps in just about every shape and size and will be one I definitely keep for a long time.  Here is my blog hop card, but keep checking back here for more ideas.  We will also use this set at my November workshop, so let me know if would like to attend.

Supplies
D1444 A Little Thanks Stamp of the Month Set
D1413 Cherished Flourishes Stamp Set
X7128B Olivia Level 2 Paper Packet
  • 4 1/4 x 11 Bamboo CS
  • 1/2 Green Stripe B&T paper (back of leaf piece)
  • 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 Floral Swirl B&T paper
  • 3 pieces of different B&T paper for circles (see below)
Z2114 Cocoa Ink Pad
Z2103 Bamboo Ink Pad
Z2110 Buttercup Ink Pad
Z697 Sponge
Z1338 Sunset Mini-Medley
Z1100 Cocoa Grosgrain

Directions

Creating the Flower

1)  Trace three different sized circles onto three different pieces of background paper.
2)  Cut out the circles with regular scissors, but in a rough scalloped shape (you can cut in a quick squiggly pattern)
3)  Spray each circle with a fine water mist and crinkle it into a ball then smooth them out somewhat flat.
4)  Pinch the back of the center of each circle with your fingers and "smooth" out the natural creases that occur to create loose pleats in the flower.
5)  Layer all of the circles to create a flower
6)  Pierce through the center and insert a brad to hold the layers together. Set aside to dry.

Layering the Card
1)  Adhere the green piece of B&T paper to the bottom of the card
2)  Adhere the Smoothie CS above the green piece
3)  Drag one side of the Floral B&T piece across the Cocoa ink pad to add a dark edge.  Place it toward the top of the card, above the Smoothie piece.

Stamp
1)  Stamp the large "Thanks" in Cocoa ink above the floral piece on the right
2)  Stamp the swirl from the Cherished Flourishes set in Buttercup over the "Thanks"

Finish
1)  Sponge Bamboo ink around the top of the card
2)  Add a strip of Cocoa grosgrain ribbon
3)  Use Liquid Glass to adhere the flower to the card or pierce through the whole card and use the brad to hold it together.

Now hop on over to Dawn Heuft's blog to see more great ideas using A Little Thanks!

Back from Cabo!

Pin It My husband and I just returned from Cabo San Lucas last night after enjoying the sun for five days.  We had a wonderful time relaxing by the pool and checking out a little bit of the town.  Guess what I forgot though...  MY CAMERA!! Arghhh!  What kind of a scrapbooker am I anyway!?  Geesh!  Luckily my husband's phone takes photos even though they aren't quite the quality I would love, but it was a camera anyway.  Here is a shot taken from a restaurant called "The Office" which has THE BEST fajitas I've ever had in my life.  We sat at a table right on the beach!  In addition to the wonderful food, there was live music and Mexican blankets to warm your shoulders in case you felt a chill in the evening.  Here is a photo of us there:

Quick Mistletoe Card

Pin It Here is one of the cards we made at the StampFest last weekend.  It is SO quick, but has a lot of punch with the beautiful Poinsettia brad from the Mistletoe accents set.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday and had SO much fun.  The kids and my husband did the pumpkin slingshot and the kids and I did the 2.1 mile corn maze.  Holy cow!  I had NO idea how involved it was going to be, but it was absolutely amazing.  The theme was "Alice and Wonderland" so they had themed characters and props throughout the maze.   Here are some photos:
