Here is a little goody from my Customer Appreciation Day last week. I made similar little pillow boxes last year and a fellow consultant, Lisa Stenz, also had something similar on her blog. This bag is Cricut Artiste Cartridge bag SO versatile! Father's Day, tuxedo shirt, etc! It can fit some cookies, gift cards, or just about anything that is less than 2" x 4". Of course I had to top it off with some of our spectacular Slate polka dot ribbon!

Here is my project for the month. I made a little Matchbook Candy Holder using one of the mini-scrapbook bases from the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge! These would be great for coworkers, friends, neighbors, your postal worker, Fed-Ex person, etc!

Ingredients: (Many of these items will be retired on 12/31, so don't hesitate to get them now!)
December Stamp of the Month: Year-Round Cheer
Avonlea Workshops on the Go Cardmaking Kit (Paper, Slate Epoxy Bubbles, & Ribbon)
Close to My Heart Cricut "Artiste" Cartridge
Chocolate Ink Pad
Juniper Ink Pad
2" Scallop Circle Punch
Sponge
Tombow Adhesive

Directions:

1. Using a piece of Chocolate cardstock, cut the base of the mini scrapbook that is on page 60 of the CTMH Cricut Artiste Cartridge book at 2 1/4".
2. Fold it along the score marks cut by the Cricut blade
3. Punch out the holes that are on the outside flap for the ribbon, but you don't need to punch out the others
4. Cut a 2 1/8" x 2 1/8" piece of background paper from the Avonlea paper packet and glue to the outside flap as shown
5.  Using Juniper ink pad and the December Stamp of the Month, stamp the "Tis the Season" stamp onto a piece of Colonial White Cardstock. 
6. Punch out the image using the Scallop Punch
7. Sponge the edges with Chocolate Ink
8. Use Foam Tape to adhere it to the front of the treat holder toward the bottom. The front flap will slide under the scalloped circle to hold it all together.
9. Use the ribbon from the Avonlea Card Kit to tie a bow through the two holes in the front flap
10. Add a Slate Epoxy Bubble from the Avonlea Card Kit to the center of the ornament
11. To add the candy to the inside, just run some Tombow Adhesive along the cardstock, fold down the sides of the candy wrapper, and stick the candy to the cardstock.

CTMH Halloween Banner

Pin It We had a fun Halloween party last weekend and I just had to make a banner for a centerpiece.

I used the Close to My Heart Spellbound Workshop on the Go Kit along with the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge to create the banner. They give directions on how to make and adorable "Boo" banner, but I wanted to make a "Halloween" banner instead. I cut the banner bases with the Cricut cartridge at 4" tall.  Let me know if you have any questions!

Cheap and Easy Flash/Lighting Tips for People, Cards, or Scrapbook Pages

Pin It Most of us have different cameras whether they are a dSLR, point and shoot, or even a cell phone.  We also have a wide range of photography knowledge, but most of us have something in common: we want to take better pictures as long as it isn't too hard or expensive. Right!?  Here are a few tips that use little to no money and can be used when taking pictures of your friends and family and even artwork such as cards or scrapbook pages. I'm not claiming the photos below are professional grade, but I had about 5 minutes of my daughter's patience to get examples to show you. (BTW, why is it that photographers' children don't like having their pictures taken?) 

Tip #1: Use a white plastic bag over your camera's flash to diffuse the light. Yes, you can buy a magnificent external flash, but this post is for the everyday Joe Jane.

Tip #2: Buy a white poster board at the Dollar Tree or craft store to use as a reflector.

The white board is held at her waist angled to reflect the light up towards her face. Can you tell she's getting a little silly at this point?

Remember, these tips can be used to help illuminate your artwork too. Although I prefer natural light, I will often use to plastic bag technique if I need to take a quick picture of a card or scrapbook layout at night. Stay tuned for more pictures and tips! Even though it is still sunny outside, October is usually the month when we crafters start thinking about what we will make for the holidays. Can you believe there is only 80 days until Christmas!? Well let's check one thing off the list early - the cards!  Join us to make 4 different cards and a little candy treat that is perfect for your coworkers, neighbors, friends, etc.

CTMH Halloween Invitation

Pin It Every September I say, "I want to have a Halloween party" and for one reason or another it has never happened. Well this year, we are actually going to do it!  I made these invitations using all Close to My Heart products. The cards were cut using the amazing Cricut Artiste Cartridge. They were cut at 3 1/2 inches, allowing me to get 3 out of one piece of 12x12 black cardstock. These are very similar to the cards I made for my team swap last month, so I ran out of the spotted border and had to come up with an alternative. I grabbed my beautiful black and white striped ribbon and used that as a card band instead. I almost like them better! I had to add a little bling by adding a Bitty Sparkle on the "ï" in Elixir.  Let me know if you have any questions!

October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Here the little gifty item I made using one piece of 6x6 Pear & Partridge paper. It is so easy!

You simply take one piece of 6x6 cardstock (I love how Close to My Heart's cardstock is printed!)

1. Place the cardstock diagnolly in front of you
2. Put a chocolate candy in the center
3. Use the candy as a guide and fold the left and right corners in toward the center
4. Glue/tape your top corner over the other flap to hold it in place
5. Flip it over and fold the whole thing in half

CTMH National Stamping Month Card

Here is another card using the National Stamping Month: "It's Your Day" Stamp Set. My new downline, Julianne, and I got together today to go over what we would show at her first gathering and this is what we came up with. We used the beautiful Avonlea Workshop on the Go Kit that came in her consultant kit along with the National Stamping Month Special. The butterfly is stamped in Slate ink onto a scrap piece of Colonial White Cardstock and a Mocha Pearl Adhesive Gem is added at the top. It is cut out and a piece of foam tape makes it pop up from the card. The little swish stamp is from the stamp set that comes with the WOTG kit and it also stamped with Slate ink. We inked it up, stamped on our scratch paper, then onto the card to create a "2nd generation" lighter effect. The saying is stamped with Chocolate ink toward the bottom/right.  Love it!

It's Your Day - National Stamping Month Card
